Writing challenge: who wants to write?

If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer …
If you’re a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
Shel Silverstein

I have found it very difficult to keep my mind on writing my novel, my supposed Work in Progress. I've thought of a different idea and it is very interesting to me. I want to write about these new characters instead, but I know where this leads: to an unfinished novel.  I need to write down my idea for the new story in a file and leave it alone until I finish the story I'm writing now.

In order to motivate myself to write the novel I'm supposed to writing I'm creating a challenge for myself. This is not like the insane nanowrimo challenge that I've tried twice and failed. This is a challenge to myself to work on different things inside of my story while I'm writing. I will give myself writing prompts in hopes of increasing my word count. You are welcome to "come in" and join me if you want.
